Donohoe Cooperative
Donohoe Cooperative is a cooperative community for Placekeepers in East Palo Alto — permanently affordable homes co-developed with EPACANDO and PAHALI Community Land Trust, rooted in the community they're built to serve. This project was designed by Figure Architects.

Architecture & Living
The project has 18 cooperatively owned homes organized around a central plaza with an outdoor kitchen pavilion. A resident flex space fronts Donohoe Street, called "The Porch", welcoming the neighborhood in. A shared garden and tool shed anchor the rear of the site.
Central plaza and outdoor kitchen The heart of the community is the central plaza, with an outdoor kitchen pavilion for shared meals and gatherings. Paseos connect residents to the plaza from both sides of the building, creating easy, spontaneous connection with neighbors.
Resident flex space The street-facing flex space invites the broader neighborhood in — a place for residents to host workshops, events, and community gatherings beyond the co-op.
Shared garden A community garden with tool shed at the rear of the site offers residents space to grow food, tend to the land, and connect with neighbors in a quieter corner of the community.
